Vajrasattva is the wisdom manifestation of enlightenment with the capacity to purify negativities including illness, disease, and broken samaya.

As a sambhogakaya manifestation, Vajrasattva unifies all five Buddha families within himself. With his right hand he holds a vajra to his heart, which signifies the indestructible precious Buddha nature. His left hand holds a bell, resting on his hip, as an expression of his compassion. The vajra and bell also represent the union of skillful means and wisdom. The hundred-syllable mantra of Vajrasattva is recited in all schools of Vajrayana Buddhism for purification. The short Vajrasattva mantra is:

Mantra: OM VAJRASATTVA HUM
